Jordan Addison banned for three games by NFL after DUI arrest

Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison has been suspended by the NFL following a DUI arrest last year.

Addison struck a plea deal with prosecutors last month as he pleaded no contest to a lesser charge and was sentenced to probation.

On Tuesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Addison had been banned for the first three games of the season for violating the league’s Substances of Abuse Policy.

The suspension will see the third-year wideout miss games against the Bears, Falcons and Bengals.

Police say they found Addison asleep behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce near Los Angeles International Airport on July 12, 2024.

He had been facing a fine or the potential loss of his license if he had been convicted on the misdemeanor DUI charge.

However, according to TMZ , Addison’s attorneys issued a no contest plea to a lesser charge of reckless driving upon a highway, on behalf of the Vikings star.

In exchange, the judge has ordered the 23-year-old to 12 months of probation, pay a $390 fine and complete a three month alcohol education course.

Addison will be allowed to participate in the preseason, which begins on Saturday for Minnesota against the Texans.

Speaking at training camp last summer, Addison was seemingly prepared to face the consequences of his actions.

‘Whatever’s out there for me, whatever comes with it, I’ll own up to everything. I feel like anything that comes my way is meant to happen or is deserved.’

The wide receiver is a significant part of Minnesota’s pᴀssing game, playing opposite from All-Pro Justin Jefferson.

The 2023 first-round pick has racked up 1,786 yards in his first two seasons to go along with 19 touchdowns.

The deep threat will look to strike up a rapport with J.J. McCarthy after Sam Darnold bolted to the Seahawks in free agency this offseason.

In Addison’s absence, Rondale Moore and rookie Tai Felton could shoulder more responsibility for the Vikings.
