NFL linebacker Denzel Perryman learns surprise fate after arrest for being found with five weapons

Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman was released from jail Monday afternoon, three days after his arrest on a felony weapons charge.

The 32-year-old had been held without bail since Friday night when he was detained in Inglewood, California after police found discovered five firearms in his car, including two ᴀssault style rifles, during a traffic stop.

Perryman was scheduled to appear at the Inglewood Courthouse on Tuesday morning but it has now been revealed that the Los Angeles District Attorney has opted against charging the former second-round draft pick, according to ESPN.

It is currently unclear why LA District Attorney Nathan Hockman decided not to file criminal charges, but it means that Perryman’s record will list a detention rather than a full arrest.

Perryman was allegedly on the way to the gun range when cops searched his car and found he had a pair of AR rifles and three handguns in his trunk. The rifles were allegedly non-compliant, which is illegal in California.

Perryman was described as ‘extremely cooperative with deputies throughout the investigation,’ per USA Today.
