Shedeur Sanders suffers injury setback as he battles for NFL starting spot with Cleveland Browns

Shedeur Sanders is suffering from a shoulder issue that has forced the Cleveland Browns quarterback to miss part of training camp.

Sanders is locked in a four-way quarterback battle in Cleveland after suffering humiliation at the NFL draft.

The son of Deion Sanders was tipped by many to be a top-10 pick but, in the end, he had to wait until the fifth round before being selected.

Now, according to ESPN, Sanders is being held out of team drills as he battles what the team has called ‘shoulder soreness.’

It has been a tumultuous few months for Sanders, who joined the Browns after a humiliating draft slide. He was eventually selected by Cleveland with the 144th overall pick.

But the quarterback then made more headlines for the wrong reasons after picking up two speeding tickets during the offseason.

The former Colorado star was ticketed for driving 91mph in a 65mph zone and 101mph in a 60mph zone.

That earned the quarterback a public reprimand from Cleveland general manager Andrew Berry.

‘Not smart. Just not smart,’ Berry told reporters. ‘It’s something that we’ve addressed with him. Look, he understands the implications, he understands the consequences.

‘It’s not just about yourself. It’s not just about having a joyride, but that you could injure other people. A deer or something cuts in front of you, your reaction time, it’s just dangerous.’

Sanders is part of a packed quarterback room in Cleveland that also includes veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett and third-round draft pick Dillon Gabriel.

Earlier this week, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam distanced himself from the decision to draft the son of Deion Sanders.

‘We have good process. We had a conversation early that morning and then we had a conversation later that day,’ Haslam said.

‘I think we had the right people involved in the conversation. And the end of the day, that’s Andrew Berry’s call. Andrew made the call to pick Shedeur.’
