New York Giants receiver ‘devastated’ as torn Achilles ends his 2025 season before it has started

New York Giants receiver 'devastated' as torn Achilles ends his 2025 season before it has started

New York Giants wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton has unfortunately been through this before, but it does not make the pain of going down with a serious Achilles injury once more any less gut-wrenching.

Ford-Wheaton suffered a torn Achilles during Sunday’s practice, the second time in his trio of NFL seasons a serious leg injury has sidelined him for the year before Week 1.

Over the weekend, Ford-Wheaton appeared to suffer the injury in non-contact fashion, hitting the turf during an offensive snap. Once the 25-year-old was on the ground, he was surrounded by his teammates while the medical cart came to his aid.

The former West Virginia standout tore his ACL in August 2023, missing all of his rookie season.

Ford-Wheaton has broken his silence over the injury on social media, calling the quick end to his 2025 ‘devastating’ as he was viewed as someone who could take on a larger role this season.

‘I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t devastated! I did everything by the book! Didn’t take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year,’ he said on X.

Now, there is a void for Giants head coach Brian Daboll to fill on the outside for this season

Now, there is a void for Giants head coach Brian Daboll to fill on the outside for this season

‘I’m not sure why me but I promise I’m not going out on these terms. It’s a long road ahead for sure but I know this is just part of Gods plan for me no matter how tough it may seem right now.’

‘Thank you all for your prayers, please continue to keep me in them. I WILL be back that’s a promise!! God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!’

Ford-Wheaton played in 14 games last season, mainly as a special-teams standout. He had the chance this fall to play alongside the most accomplished quarterback the Giants have had during his tenure, Russell Wilson.

Wilson was seen tapping Ford-Wheaton on the shoulder when the severity of his injury became paramount while he was loaded onto the medical cart.

Now, there is a void for head coach Brian Daboll to fill, as New York looks to keep pace in arguably the toughest division in football.

The Eagles and Commanders both look stout after representing the NFC in the conference’s championship game last season, while the Cowboys always have high expectations.

New York’s No 1 wide receiver is Malik Nabers, who would have been able to pᴀss some of the load at his position group to Ford-Wheaton this season.
