The Giants thought they left their roster a bit short at safety and they made sure to address that need Tuesday on the first day of training camp, signing veteran K’Von Wallace prior to the first practice Wednesday morning.
Wallace, 27, joins a secondary that has newcomer Jevon Holland (from the Dolphins) and second-year Tyler Nubin as the presumptive starters and Dane Belton as the third safety.
There was not much proven depth after that, which is why Wallace is now aboard. He had a tryout with the Giants in the spring.
A college teammate of nose tackle Dexter Lawrence at Clemson, Wallace was a 2020 fourth-round draft pick of the Eagles.
He has bounced around the league, also playing for the Cardinals, тιтans (under Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen) and Seahawks. Has 71 games on his NFL résumé, including 19 starts.
Wallace played in nine games last season for the Seahawks before hurting his ankle and landing on injured reserve.
