A City of Midland employee was killed in a shooting and standoff that left one person ᴅᴇᴀᴅ and 10 others injured.
The suspect, identified as Victor Mata Villarreal, 45, of Odessa, was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ about 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 12, after an hours-long standoff with law enforcement, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Officers responded just after 8 a.m. to reports of a shooting, and authorities later confirmed via drone footage that the suspect was ᴅᴇᴀᴅ inside an abandoned veterinary clinic more than three hours later.
Officials said Villarreal had been wanted on an attempted capital murder of a peace officer charge following a vehicle pursuit on June 10 in which sH๏τs were fired at a Midland police officer during a traffic stop.
