Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce has been slammed for his ‘tone deaf’ July 4th post, as the NFL great has upset the fans of his beloved former team and more.
On Friday, Kelce posted an Instagram video of fireworks, with his caption rubbing some the wrong way.
‘Man I love the 4th! One of the great days we all can set aside our differences in this country, and enjoy the one thing we all share in common. That we are American! Cheers to you oh beautiful America,’ Kelce said on Instagram, with a like from younger brother Travis Kelce.
Jason’s post came a few hours after President Donald Trump signed his ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ into law, with many up to 17 million Americans losing their healthcare, and an estimated $3.4trillion being added to the national debt with it being codified.
Although the Hall of Fame offensive tackle has rarely veered into politics, some viewed his timing as insensitive to those opposed to the bill.
Others thought Kelce’s message came from a place of privilege as a longtime professional football player.

Philadelphia Eagles legend Jason Kelce has been slammed for his ‘tone deaf’ July 4th post
Kelce posted an Instagram video of fireworks, with his caption rubbing some the wrong way.
‘I love you, bro, but your privilege is showing. You are able to set things aside, but not everyone has that privilege,’ one person said in the comments.
‘What a privileged statement coming from a white man. Setting aside “our differences” is easy for you to say because nothing that’s going on will affect you. What a terrible take on what’s going on in the (country),’ a second stated.
‘Dude, no. This caption is so beyond tone deaf and insulting. People are suffering. People will die because of what’s happening. Human rights are being lost. Do better. This is actually horrendous,’ a third continued.
‘Cringed so hard at the caption bc what?’ a fourth responded.
‘This is so tone deaf….’ a fifth person concluded.
A collection of social-media messages about Jason Kelce’s ‘tone deaf’ July 4th post
Kelce has not responded to his message or clarified it any further. His message comes a week after he wore red, white, and blue breakaway pants and exposed an American flag-themed speedo.
Some in the comments defended Kelce’s comment, as they said he intended it as a pro-American message.
Others thought the detractors were ‘crazy’ based on the pᴀssage of the bill, with every Democrat in the House of Representatives voting no to it.
The only indication of Kelce’s political tendencies comes from his brother’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, endorsing Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential election.
