Tommy DeVito ‘trying to continue’ on with Giants as questions over his future loom

Tommy DeVito ‘trying to continue’ on with Giants as questions over his future loom

Tommy DeVito says he is greatly enjoying the newly stocked and high-personality quarterback room that includes Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart. DeVito is the only holdover.

There is definitely a line of demarcation with this foursome. Wilson is 36, married with kids. Winston is 31, married with kids. DeVito is 26 and single. Dart is 22 and single.

“I don’t want to say they’re ‘older,’ but Jameis and Russ being a little bit older and me and Jaxson being on the younger side, it’s a fun blend,’’ DeVito said Wednesday. “They have wives, families, that whole thing. Me and Jax don’t. It’s been — me and Jax might go on ‘Love Island,’ we’ve talked about it. So, you really don’t know what’s about to happen.’’

Did DeVito drop some television/entertainment news?

Well, he did admit that he and Dart watch “Love Island.”

“I can’t say we do it every night, but from time to time if we get an off-day,’’ DeVito said, laughing. “Yeah, we watch it, we talk about it.’’

It remains to be seen if DeVito fits with the 2025 Giants.

He was a fan favorite and, for a short time, an NFL shooting star when he won three consecutive starts during the 2023 season, cultivating a “Tommy Cutlets’’ persona with his New Jersey tales and charm. It seems the only way for DeVito to stick around is if the Giants put him on their practice squad.

“I mean, the plan has always been to be here, especially when I was a rookie,’’ DeVito said. “So, trying to continue that for as long as possible and then we’ll see where it goes from there. But right now, I’m focused on being present and where I am and be where my feet are. So right now, I’m about to go enjoy this break and then come back for training camp and then we’ll go from there.’’

WR Malik Nabers was not on the field for any of the work in the spring, as the Giants say they are being cautious with him because of an ongoing issue with one of his toes that Nabers first experienced in college as LSU. Head coach Brian Daboll said there is no concern about Nabers missing time at the start of training camp; veterans report July 22.

“Every person’s at a different part in, call it rehab if you will or prehab and we just did what we thought was best for Malik to try to get him as healthy as we can,’’ Daboll said. “That was the plan that we came up with for him and for our football team.’’

RB Cam Skattebo became the final member of the 2025 draft class to sign his rookie contract. Skattebo, a fourth-round pick (105th overall), received a four-year deal Wednesday for $5.27 million, including a signing bonus of $1.1 million.
