Jaxson Dart aced his first Giants test with his biggest still to come

The Giants hope they will be able to look back at the past two months, point to a few specific trial-and-error moments and, as an organization, acknowledge that what they saw in the nascent stages of Jaxson Dart’s development was a precursor to his emergence as a bona fide NFL quarterback.

Ever since the night of April 24, when the Giants traded up into the first round of the draft and selected Dart with pick No. 25, the 22-year old has hit all the right notes. Not that every throw was on the money and every read was deciphered correctly. The Giants could care less about that right now.

The Giants liked Dart a great deal when they took him. They like him even more after seeing him up close, on their grᴀss fields, in their meeting rooms and inside their locker room.

“I feel like I’ve made tremendous strides especially from my first day to now, just being able to understand the pictures of the offense and whatnot,’’ Dart said Wednesday as the Giants finished up their two-day mandatory minicamp. “Obviously, I have to dive into a lot more but I’m definitely just trying to take it to the next level over the summer. Really just lock in, hone in on as much as I can throughout this time, so that way when I get back for training camp, I’m on an even better level than I’m now.’’
