What Giants running back Tyrone Tracy ordered off Amazon to help improve his biggest weakness

Tyrone Tracy is tackling the offseason prep by turning to a big business.

The second-year Giants running back had an impressive rookie season to help fill in the void that Saquon Barkley left in New York. He ran for 839 yards for five touchdowns but he also fumbled five times across 17 games.

To rid himself of those ʙuттer fingers, Tracy went to Amazon.

The fifth-round draft pick in 2024 who transitioned from wide receiver to running back purchased grip strengtheners from the company, Tracy told reporters on Thursday, in an attempt to help him fix what is one of his biggest weaknesses.

“First of all, it starts on the football field. Every time I’m holding the ball or I get the ball, whatever it is, making sure I’m holding it right,” Tracy said of how he is working on his ball security. “I also bought — I don’t know if y’all know what it is — but it’s like a little grip strengthener off of Amazon that I use every night. I helps me and also it’s just making sure I’m being fundamentally sound when I’m holding the ball as well.”

Tracy’s response not only caught NFL fans’ attention, but also an Amazon executive.

Andy Jᴀssy posted on X on Sunday, saying, “As a big #NYG fan, just want to say we’re here for you, Tyrone.”

Grip strengtheners are a great rehab tool coming back from injury, but also helps athletes to boost their hands, fingers, and wrists. Many also have an adjustable resistance grip, anywhere from 10 to 100-plus pounds.

If Tracy is able to turn around this part of his game, the Giants’ rushing attack could take the next step

He was also used as a receiver last year, tallying 284 yards over 38 receptions.

“When you look at all the great running backs, they look consistent year after year after year,” Tracy said. “So, that’s what I want to be. I want to be one of the great New York Giant running backs that’s coming through here. It starts with consistency and that’s going to start at practice every day.”
