EXCLUSIVEInside Michael Jordan's Italian getaway as he puffs a cigar on $115m superyacht... and a surprising confidant is revealed

Michael Jordan began his annual grand European tour in style at the weekend when he swapped his private jet for his lavish superyacht in Sardinia – despite fears over his Los Angeles flagship store.

The NBA legend, 62, touched down on the picturesque Italian island with his cohort of nearest and dearest Sunday afternoon as the family kickstarted their summer vacation.

The European getaway to Sardinia – the second largest island in the Mediterranean – comes amid reports that the six-time NBA champion’s Jordan Flagship Store in Los Angeles was looted among the shocking riots sweeping through the California city.

But in an attempt to escape from the business nightmare, Jordan stepped off his private jet at the Sardinian airport.

In pH๏τos exclusive to Daily Mail, the Chicago Bulls great was seen clambering down from his extravagant $70million private jet – a Gulfstream 650ER, which holds the record for ‘the farthest fastest flight in business aviation history’, according to its website.

The lavish aircraft, distinguishable for its custom $500,000 elephant-print paint job, can accommodate up to 19 pᴀssengers and four members of crew.

After disembarking, Jordan was greeted by two members of airport staff, whom he fondly pulled in for a hug.

The towering 6-foot-6 former athlete, who cut a casual figure in a burgundy loose-fitted t-shirt and a pair of shorts from his own Nike clothing line, was closely followed by his wife, Yvette Prieto.

Prieto, 47, also opted for comfort for the journey, dressing down in a simple white tank top, black sweatpants and sneakers. However, the former model added a touch of glamour with a teal Goyard tote and eye-catching diamond studs, while flaunting her $1million engagement ring.

The Cuban-American tied the knot with Jordan in 2013 and the happily-married couple share two twin daughters, Victoria and Ysabel, who also joined their parents.

The 11-year-olds, dressed in matching beige lounge sets, were spotted waiting on the tarmac for their famous father to finish disembarking before the family headed to the water.

The basketball icon and his brood were later captured aboard one of his fleet of multimillion-dollar superyachts, with his extended family joining him. Jordan settled into relaxation mode in no time as he was pictured puffing on a thick cigar with his father-in-law, Carlos Prieto Sr, and brother-in-law Carlos Jr – whose wife also joined the trip.

Jordan, who is worth an estimated $3.6bn, is believed to own an $80m yacht known as ‘Joy’ and even bigger one known as ‘M’BRACE’ that is valued at a staggering $115m.

The 244-foot long ship, purchased by Jordan in 2022, is said to accommodate 12 guests with 8 cabins and 24 crew, with an estimated annual running cost of $10m.

Jordan and Prieto’s 11-year-old daughters, Victoria and Ysabel, also arrived at the airport

And Jordan will seemingly require the spacious luxury afforded to him by the incredible vessel as the trip appeared to be a full family affair with even Jordan’s in-laws joining the excursion.

Like Jordan, Carlos Jr has also ventured into the sportswear business, opening his own sneaker store, SoleFly in Miami back in 2010 – two years after his sister began dating the NBA star.

The quartet were seen smiling as they strolled through the Sardinian seaside resort. All four blocked out the blinding sun with blacked-out shades with both Prieto’s father and brother shielding their faces with baseball caps.

While Jordan didn’t appear to join them on their on-shore trip, the former guard, having changed into a ‘Jordan’ sweatshirt, soaked up the vistas. He leaned over the railing of his mega yacht and puffed on his signature cigar – a trait he appears to share with his father-in-law.

As the sun began to set over Sardinia’s dramatic coastline, Jordan and Carlos Sr lounged out on the deck, chatting with cigars in-hand.

Meanwhile, Prieto was spotted doting on one of her daughters from inside what appeared to be the ship’s dining room.

In addition to Victoria and Ysabel, ‘His Airness’ also shares three adult children – Jeffrey, 36, Marcus, 34, and Jasmine, 32 – from his first marriage to ex-wife Juanita Vanoy.

Marcus, who stirred controversy with his relationship with Larsa Pippen, the ex-wife of Michael’s former teammate Scottie Pippen, from 2022 to 2024, is no stranger to headlines of his own.

He was arrested on February 4 in Florida for DUI and cocaine possession. Later that month, his cocaine possession charges altered after police determined the drug allegedly on him was ketamine, according to TMZ.

Last month, Marcus revealed that he was 40 days sober, announcing the milestone on social media.

The Mediterranean is the destination of choice for Jordan, Prieto and their two girls with the family frequently cruising around the sea’s stunning blue water and making extravagant pitstops at some of the most luxurious destinations Europe has to offer, including Monaco, St. Tropez, Portofino and Barcelona.

However, this summer’s quality downtime will prove to be even more precious for the NBA icon as he gears up for his new job in the Fall.

It was revealed in May that Jordan will be on the NBC airwaves when the network returns to airing the NBA next season.

The addition of Jordan is a coup, with the network bringing on one of the all-time greatest players in the sport to boost their coverage.

Rather than be a constant presence on-air – much like Wayne Gretzky does with hockey coverage on Turner or Tom Brady does on Fox – Jordan’s appearances will be rarer and more specialized, Daily Mail exclusively revealed last month.

‘Michael is going to be doing a handful things for NBC when the NBA returns, and instead of commentating, it is going to be more special segments, 60 Minutes style, and occasionally doing halftime analysis,’ sources exclusively told DailyMail.com

The source added, ‘They are going to make his moments special, and with players in a hands on segment before the game and occasionally stuff after the game, but it isn’t going to be full commentary or what Shaq and Charles Barkley do.

Sources said that Jordan’s role will make him ‘NBC’s Oprah for the NBA.”

It had been rumored that Jordan would pocket a staggering $40 million annually from NBC – the twice the figure Charles Barkley earns with TNT – but a report from Fox Office Sports claimed that sum was inaccurate.

A new media rights deal is set to kick in for the league next season – putting NBA games back on NBC for the first time since 2002.

In addition to Jordan, Hall of Famer Reggie Miller will be appearing on the network alongside Carmelo Anthony and Jamal Crawford.
