Travis Kelce names Chiefs rookie impressing him most in practice so far

Travis Kelce has given his stamp of approval to Chiefs first round NFL Draft selection Josh Simmons as part of Kansas City’s volunteer practices.

Simmons has impressed the 35-year-old тιԍнт end despite coming into rookie camp off of a quadriceps tear.

That injury may have led the former Ohio State offensive tackle to slip in the draft, landing in the laps of Andy Reid’s team.

As Kelce looked around to try and help the Chiefs get back to their championship ways, Simmons stood out as someone that could move the needle.

‘I was just back there last week, got to see a lot of the rookies, get to jump on the field with the helmets and jerseys and run around and see what this new fine-tuned offense is going to look like or at least set the tone for the rest of the offseason and going into mini camp here in a few weeks,’ Kelce said.

‘Josh Simmons, first of all great dude, seems like he’s embracing his situation, he’s working hard to make sure that he’s ready by the time season comes around or as healthy as he can be.’

‘I’ve seen him over there working some pᴀss sets and things like that. When you see the guy move, he’s so balanced, and he’s such a big athlete, he doesn’t seem like he’s ever top heavy. His legs are strong, his feet are in the ground, he’s very precise with his movement. He puts on pads and he’ll probably get a little meaner and really bring a lot to the table for us.’

On ‘New Heights’, Jason Kelce added that the Chiefs offensive line was a ‘major struggle’ last season, evidenced by the unit’s performance in the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Kelce brothers both believe Simmons could help stabilize the team in the trenches and help them get back to their championship ways.

The 6-foot-5, 320-pounder was not on the field for the Buckeye’s national championship run.

Yet, Simmons comes into the NFL with four seasons of college experience, which should help him adjust to the professional ranks easier.
