300 million year old screw or fossilized sea creature?

A group of Russian researchers known as the Kosmopoisk Group, who investigate UFOs and paranormal activities as well as decipher supernatural phenomena, claim to have found a nearly 2cm long ‘screw’ embedded deep inside a rock, estimated to be around 300 million years old.

They say the ‘screw’ found dates back to ancient times, which proves that extraterrestrials ‘visited’ us millions of years ago. In the 1990s, they received a report about a meteorite falling to Earth near Kaluga, Russia. The researchers immediately went to the site to conduct analyses.

However, some scientists believe that the fossil ‘screw’ is actually a fossilized sea creature called a Crinoid.

The sea crinoid is a marine animal that is believed to have evolved about 350 million years ago, belonging to the group of echinoderms, the same family as starfish and sea urchins. They have tentacles that look like branches, and are very hairy. For most of their life, sea crinoids cling to rocks and coral reefs. Only in special situations do they move away from their habitat. And there are about 600 species of sea crinoids, traces of which can be found in both deep and shallow seas and tropical coral reefs.

300-million-year-old screw or fossilized marine creature

Over the years, geologists have found numerous fossils representing entire crinoids or their segments, some of which have a similar shape to a screw. Scientists have suggested that the screw-like shape in the fossilized specimens may be the inverted shape of the creature, which dissolved while the rock was being formed around it.

“It would be great to think that we could find ancient evidence of spacecraft visiting us long ago, but we have to consider whether the alien spacecraft builders used screws to build their ships,” said Nigel Watson, author of the book “UFO Investigation Guide.”

While researchers believe that the “screw” proves the presence of aliens, did they use screws? Scientists have confirmed that it is not a screw but simply a fossil of a crinoid, but crinoid stems are usually small, so 2cm in size is too large for the average size of this creature.

So what is this 300-year-old fossil?

For now, this is still a question mark hanging in the air and the controversy surrounding this story is still very much. Unless the Kosmopoisk Group reveals details about the “screw” documentation, this story will remain unconsensus among scientists and researchers.
