Aaron Rodgers reveals the personal reason holding up his NFL decision

Aaron Rodgers may have dropped another hint about his free agency delay.

During a conversation on “The Joe Rogan Podcast” about health and alternative medicine this week, Rodgers revealed that someone near him is dealing with cancer.

“I’ve been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer,” Rodgers told Rogan.

The latest comments from Rodgers come a month after the former Jets quarterback disclosed that people in his inner circle were dealing with “difficult stuff” on “The Pat McAfee Show,” leading to him delaying a decision on his football future.

“I am trying to be open to everything and not specifically attached to anything when it comes to this decision,” Rodgers said then. “I’m just going through a lot in my personal life that has to take precedent at this point.

Rodgers has been the Steelers’ top quarterback target all offseason and is widely believed to be headed to Pittsburgh — eventually.

The Steelers welcomed Rodgers to their team facility and have been in contact with him for months.

Despite the NFL draft pᴀssing a month ago and training camp starting in July, Rodgers insisted last month that he isn’t “stringing anybody along.”

Steelers team president Art Rooney II said Wednesday the organization is willing to wait “a little while longer” for Rodgers to decide his football future, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported.

The Steelers signed veteran signal-caller Mason Rudolph and selected Ohio State quarterback Will Howard in the sixth round of the draft, apparently leaving the starting quarterback spot open for Rodgers.

The future Hall of Famer led the Jets to a disappointing 5-12 record while throwing for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 games last season.

If Rodgers does indeed sign with the Steelers, he will face his former team at MetLife Stadium in Week 1.
