Pelicans forward Trey Murphy was grilled by none other than his mom after he missed three free throws vs. the Pacers on Friday, as she hilariously crashed his postgame press conference to give him some tough love.
Murphy, in his second NBA season, had a great game in the Pelicans’ 129-102 win as he tallied 28 points and seven rebounds.
But that was apparently not good enough for his mother, Albeda, who asked him afterwards about his (relative) struggles at the charity stripe.
‘It has been a couple of games where you’ve missed two free throws in a row,’ she began, with her son on the podium. ‘That is bothersome to your mother. You would have 31 points tonight if you had hit all three free throws.’
Murphy then hysterically replied, ‘Next question, please.’Â

Murphy and his mother, Albeda, are seen in an Instagram post from March of last year
But Albeda kept at it, asking, ‘I would love to know why, when I have witnessed you make almost 98 free throws in a row. What is going on when you’re at the free throw line to miss two in a row?’
Again, Murphy fired back, ‘Next question, please.’
‘No, there is not a next question,’ his mother said. ‘I will hará´€ss you when you get home.’
‘OK, alright,’ Murphy relented. ‘Yeah, I have to make free throws obviously and just not rush and not get too excited on the line. Next question, please.’
To his mother’s point, Murphy is shooting just 76.5 percent from the line this season after topping 90 percent last year.

Still, he had a strong game on Friday vs. the Pacers as he tallied 28 points and seven rebounds
He went 6-for-9 at the line on Friday.
Overall, it’s been a positive year for Murphy, who is averaging 13.1 points per game, 4.1 rebounds and 35.8 percent from three.
His Pelicans are sixth in the West with a 36-25 record.Â
