The Indianapolis Colts‘ 2024 season ended on a confusing note for the franchise.
After star quarterback Anthony Richardson went down with back and foot injuries in week 16, backup Joe Flacco was given the nod to start in his place and went 1-1, finishing the year 8-9 and narrowly missing the postseason.
Now, Richardson, 22, will be duking it out with former New York Giants QB Daniel Jones for the top spot on the depth chart come training camp.
While that may sound tense, Richardson is hoping to make the most of the experience.
“I’m looking forward to learning a lot from him,” Richardson said. “He’s been in the league for a good minute, had ups and downs throughout his career. So I’m looking to learn as much as I can from him while we just push this compeтιтion to just get better.”
In addition to the rare good-natured quarterback rivalry, this Colts team looks ready to compete in 2025. Shane Steichen’s squad signed projected starters Charvarius Ward and Camryn Bynum. Then, they nabbed Penn State тιԍнт end Tyler Warren with the 14th pick in the draft. The trio joins Indianapolis’ nucleus which includes 2025 Pro Bowlers Jonathan Taylor, Quenton Nelson and Zaire Franklin. Throw in perennial star Michael Pittman Jr. and you have a well-rounded squad.
And, now, with the 2025 schedule having officially been released, we know Richardson’s — or Jones’ — path to a more successful, less confusing middle-of-the-pack season.
Just a few of the most crucial home games on the docket this year include showdowns with the Denver Broncos (Sept. 14), Houston Texans (Nov. 30) and San Francisco 49ers (Dec. 22).
Plus, midway through the season, they’re heading overseas to play the Atlanta Falcons at Olympiastadion in Berlin, DE on on Sunday, Nov. 9.
