Minnesota Vikings are getting 'screwed' by the NFL, fans claim as grueling schedule is revealed

Minnesota Vikings fans are claiming their favorite team is being ‘screwed’ by the NFL after it was announced they will become the first team to play in international games in back-to-back weeks in different countries.

The Vikings’ European expedition starts on Sept. 28 with a game in Dublin, Ireland against the Pittsburgh Steelers. A week later, Minnesota will be in London for a game against the Cleveland Browns.

The NFL announced nearly its full international slate on Tuesday, with one slot not being announced in the Los Angeles Chargers’ opponent for the opening week in Brazil.

That spot has long to be thought to belong to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the league has not officially confirmed Patrick Mahomes heading to Sao Paulo.

The Vikings are also the only team, ᴀssuming the Kansas City designation is accurate, to play multiple international games during the 2025 season.

Minnesota’s fans are less than thrilled about the possibility of their favorite team being based in Europe for nearly two weeks.

‘Why do the Vikings have 2 games? BS, NFL trying to make sure Vikings get screwed,’ one fan said.

‘British people’s ancestors hearing that the Vikings are coming to Ireland and England,’ another supporter stated, with a GIF of Squidward from ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’.

‘This doesn’t seem fair at all for the Vikings,’ a third continued.

‘I’m ᴀssuming the only reason the Vikings keep on getting sent over there is because we have a shockingly large UK fanbase,’ a fourth concluded.

Flights from London to Dublin are only a little over an hour, with many of Minnesota’s road games needing longer travel time back to the Twin Cities.

Yet, it is the jet lag and having longer used to a drastically different time zone that gets fans upset and singles out the Vikings on the NFL calendar.

The only saving grace for some is that all of the Vikings international travel will be done after Week 5, giving the team the final 13 weeks of the regular season based in America.

The Vikings are looking to capitalize on a spectacular 2024 regular season when they finished 14-3.

Minnesota’s season did end with two losses, in the final week of the regular season to the Lions, and in the Wild Card round against the Rams.
