Inside the real phone call Shedeur Sanders got from Cleveland Browns before ending his draft nightmare

The real phone conversation between Shedeur Sanders and the Cleveland Browns, with head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry speaking, has been revealed.

The audio and video of the Saturday moment Deion Sanders’ prized son officially knew his professional destination was released by the Browns a few days after the former Colorado star was pranked called about being selected.

The 21-year-old son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was found to be behind the prank call on Friday night, and his conversation with Sanders cost his dad’s team $250,000 and his father $100,000 of his own money.

Ulbrich’s salary is $1.6 million per year, with Jax Ulbrich’s actions costing his dad more than three weeks pay.

Sanders has not commented on the incident, while processing his slip from possible top draft selection to the fifth round. Now, the moment his personal nightmare of waiting to hear his name called has been made public.

‘Hey, I know it’s been a long weekend, we’re going to take you off the board here, alright brother,’ Berry said to Sanders. ‘You gotta come in, you gotta work hard, you gotta earn your job, earn your keep. And it doesn’t matter where you’re taken, it matters what you do from this point forward.’

‘You’re talented, we spent a lot of time with you, you’re a good kid. Let’s get ready to go to work and prove all these people who pᴀssed on you wrong.’

The Browns themselves pᴀssed on Sanders six times, including trading the No 2 overall pick to the Jaguars and selecting defensive tackle Mason Graham with the corresponding fifth pick.

Cleveland also selected former Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel in the third round, pᴀssing on Sanders with direct compeтιтion.

‘Remember I told you the Lord works in mysterious ways right?’ Stefanski interjected to Sanders. ‘It’s an opportunity and we’re going to get to work together.’

Sanders looked happy and put on a Browns hat at his draft celebration, knowing the prank calls would be no more.

Alongside Gabriel and Sanders, the Browns also have quarterbacks Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco and Deshaun Watson on their roster.

At maximum, only three will make the team’s 53-man roster to start the regular season, with Flacco and Watson near-locks to hold two of those spots with their contracts.
