Sacramento Kings star DeMar DeRozan was involved in a violent bust-up at a sushi restaurant in California on Friday night which is now under police investigation.
TMZ Sports have released dramatic footage of DeRozan, a six-time NBA All-Star, in a furious altercation with a man who allegedly sparked the melee by shoving a bright phone light in his face at Calabasas spot Yume Sushi.
The video initially shows restaurant security trying to pull the small forward off of the man in question, who is defending himself while laying on the ground with his legs in the air.
He eventually returns to his feet and desperately attempts to retrieve his phone, which has been taken by a female in a grey tracksuit who appears to be with DeMar.
After the basketball player lunges back in towards him, the unidentified male can be heard telling him he is a ‘big fan’ in a bid to defuse the situation. ‘You’re my hero,’ he says.
The footage ends with the female blocking him off from getting to DeRozan in another section of the restaurant, though the situation is believed to have persisted after the video drew to a close.

Police are now investigating the incident, which took place at around 10:30pm.
An eyewitness alleges that the man first shoved a phone with a bright light in DeRozan’s face, before it was knocked out of his hand.
He is believed to have been taken away in an ambulance after sustaining injuries in the fight, which sent glᴀss and cutlery flying off tables in the sushi joint.
