A representative of the late Kyren Lacy dropped a bombshell statement Friday that took aim at the league over the NFL prospect’s death.
Lacy died Saturday in Houston due to a self-inflicted gunsH๏τ wound after crashing his vehicle while trying to evade local police, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The 24-year-old was already facing several felony charges following a fatal car crash on December 17 that claimed the life of 78-year-old Louisiana native Herman Hall. Two days later, Lacy declared for the NFL Draft, sparking backlash.
Almost a week later, Rocky Arceneaux, who represented the NFL hopeful, spoke out as he appeared to accuse the league of having a role in his client’s suicide.
‘To the NFL, shame on you for revoking Kyren’s Combine invitation without acknowledgement or consideration of the facts,’ Arceneaux’s statement read, via ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
‘I urge you to re-evaluate your processes and provide athletes with the necessary due process before alienating them from their peers and dreams they’ve worked so hard for. Shame on the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office for being more concerned about public perception – and pressure to charge someone – than actually investigating the facts.

‘K2 – You should have had the chance to reach your dream of playing in the NFL, in just a week’s time. It hurts that the pressure, public perception, social media bullying – all without having the facts – were too much to bear. We hoped to see you flourish as an elite WR in the NFL, but God needed you on his team more. Your memory will never be forgotten, we will not let your death be in vain, and you will not be Mr. Irrelevant.’
Lacy was considered one of the top prospects coming out of college football ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.
Lacy led the Tigers with nine touchdowns last season and seemed ᴀssured of being picked next week before a pair of crises resulted in his suicide.
He’d been criticized for declaring for the NFL Draft just two days after the fatal crash. But according to his attorney, Matthew Ory, the standout receiver did not believe he was at fault in the collision, so he ‘continued with his daily activities.’
His case was set to be heard by a grand jury on Monday, less than 48 hours after his reported death.
‘No time ever feels appropriate to release a statement of this magnitude. I’ve been processing this loss in private with Kyren’s family and loved ones and with their permission, I would like to share the following,’ Arceneaux, who also represents NFL stars Ezekiel Elliott, Tee Higgins and Ja’Marr Chase, continued.
‘Kyren was a special talent, but an even better person. In December, Alliance was blessed to welcome Kyren into our family. His infectious personality and love of life positively affected everyone. Staff and clients alike.
‘He loved football. The fact that it was also going to be a means to provide for his family meant even more. His family was his everything.
‘As stated by Kyren’s attorney, we expected all charges to have been dropped at his hearing this past Monday.
Lacy, 24, was arrested on January 13 after an arrest warrant was issued by local police

‘Kyren was heartbroken by the tragic loss of Mr. Hall. He was willing to adhere to any civil matters, regardless of the Grand Jury’s decision. That aside, the system failed us, and we are now mourning the loss of two lives.
At around 11:15pm Saturday, a weapons disturbance is said to have been reported near Houston by one of Lacy’s family members. The woman told police that they got into a verbal altercation before Lacy fired a weapon at the ground.
Lacy then fled the scene, but did not comply with cops when they later identified his car and tried to stop him.
Police told TMZ that Lacy’s car ultimately crashed, and cops found him ᴅᴇᴀᴅ from an apparent self-inflicted gunsH๏τ wound when they tried to extract him from the vehicle.
Lacy was arrested on January 13 , with cops accusing him of driving recklessly – speeding and pᴀssing in a no-pᴀssing zone – when a motorist, who was swerving to avoid Lacy´s Dodge Charger, crashed head-on into another vehicle. He was also alleged to have fled the scene.
Lacy was charged with negligent homicide, hit-and-run driving with serious injury or death and reckless operation with accident. He was released on $151,000 bond ahead of his case being scheduled to be heard on Monday.
Following Lacy’s death, his father, Kenny Lacy, broke his silence with a stark mental health warning to young parents.
‘Young parents, start talking to your kids at a very early age and make sure they are confident and comfortable confiding in you,’ he wrote on Facebook .
Lacy is seen with his father at his LSU graduation. The prospect had previously been charged with negligent homicide in a separate incident.

‘Don’t be cool with ‘I’m Alright,or I’m good’ when you know deep down something isn’t right. Mental Health is real, and for the most part, it’s invisible, don’t ignore the signs, even if they may seem small.
‘Our lives have changed forever and this will never be ok, but God needed my baby more than he was needed here.
‘This has to be the biggest pill our families have had to swallow but I know the love and compᴀssion in our families will get us through.
‘This will never get easier, but we’ll learn to live with it.
‘Check on your kids mental!!!!!!!!!!!’
