NFL insider Adam Schefter trolled by cruel Masters prank that 'scared the c**p out of me'

A golf fan pulled a hilarious prank on Adam Schefter while the NFL insider was without his phone at the Masters.

The ESPN reporter was among the crowd at Augusta National, where Rory McIlroy made history on Sunday by winning the career Grand Slam.

The rules at Augusta are notoriously strict and ‘patrons’ are strictly forbidden from having their phones with them out on the course.

Schefter has become known as the most prolific news gatherer among NFL reporters but he was off-grid while at Augusta for the opening two rounds of the Masters.

The ESPN reporter claims he was ‘petrified’ of what could happen while he was without his phone. And one fan decided to prey on those fears.

‘Being at the Masters, the one thing that’s amazing about it is you’re not allowed to have your phone at all,’ Schefter explained on his podcast.

‘So I go into Thursday and Friday petrified of what’s gonna happen. Is Aaron Rodgers gonna come back today while I’m on the golf course? Are the Tennessee тιтans gonna trade the No. 1 overall pick? Is Deion Sanders gonna say that Shedeur’s playing in this city of nowhere else?’

Schefter continued: I had this one – I would say – 20-year-old kid come running up to me… and he goes: “Did you hear about the humungous NFL trade?!”

‘And my heart dropped. This was on the 6th hole… and I’m like, “No?” And he says “I’m only kidding.”

Schefter didn’t take too kindly to the prank. ‘That wasn’t that funny, I have to be honest with you… and he scared the crap out me, to be honest,’ he said.

‘My heart dropped into my stomach when he said that. But it was an unbelievable experience to be there, other than that one little moment on the course of Friday.’
