The Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to decide about the 2025 season and NFL reporter Adam Schefter addressed how urgent the veteran quarterback should act on the situation.
It has been reported that both sides have been discussing Rodgers’ future in Steel City for most of the offseason after his breakup with the New York Jets.
However, Rodgers has yet to confirm where he plans to land for the NFL season.
It was previously projected that he would decide by the NFL Draft, similar to the timeline when he joined the Jets in 2023. With the Draft, which starts on April 24, approaching, the clock may be winding down for Rodgers and the Steelers.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, Schefter suggested that Rodgers should sign before the team begins voluntary offseason workouts next week. Furthermore, he suggested that news on Rodgers’ decision will come out before OTAs.
‘If Aaron Rodgers decides that he wants to play in Pittsburgh with new teammates, new receivers, new coaches, a new offense, and a new city, I would think that he would want to be their boots on the ground from day one of the offseason program so he could be on the field,’ Schefter said.

‘Now, he could put this off more and wait longer, sure, he could do that. It’s not like it’s a hard ᴅᴇᴀᴅline,’ he added. ‘But, if you’re going to be going into a new situation, don’t you want to give yourself the best chance to get acclimated to everybody and everything within your power when the offseason program begins.’
Schefter noted how Rodgers’ indecision could make things difficult for the Steelers coaching staff, plays, and fans as it halts the planning for the 2025 season.
Pittsburgh still does not know who will lead their offense until Rodgers makes up his mind.
The Steelers have shown interest in drafting a quarterback, especially after it was announced that they met with Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
After a 10-7 season, Pittsburgh looks to start from scratch after parting ways with both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, who went to the Giants and Jets, respectively.
