Chiefs Super Bowl champ BJ Thompson’s ‘innocent’ friend killed in Arkansas shooting

Chiefs second-year defensive end BJ Thompson is mourning the loss of his “lil sis” in the shooting that killed two people and left nine others injured Sunday in Arkansas.

Tatayana Penister has been identified as one of the victims, per the Daily Mail, and she grew up with Thompson and was a close friend, his agent told the publication.

“You ain’t deserve ts. Mfs love playin widd guns and actin gangsta but be crash outs and broke,” Thompson wrote on Instagram while tagging the account @_.tabriyah._.

“My lil sis was innocent, and had her whole life ahead of her. IK it ain’t my fault but I can’t help but say ‘I’m sorry’. This world ain’t deserve you lil baby. Watch over me as I ball out for you.”

Thompson, 26, also posted a six-pH๏τo collage of the pair, with several of the pH๏τos showing the two from their high school days.

The Baylor and Stephen F. Austin biographies for Thompson list him hailing from England, Ark. and having attended England High School.

Sunday’s ᴅᴇᴀᴅly shooting occurred at a city park and roughly 27 miles north of Little Rock, according to the ᴀssociated Press.

The nine injured individuals are considered stable and being treated at area hospitals, the Conway Police Department reported Monday on Facebook.

A police spokesperson did not reveal to the AP the cause of the shooting or whether a suspect had been identified as of Monday afternoon.

Thompson joined the Chiefs for the 2023 season after being selected in the fifth round out of Stephen F Austin and he won a Super Bowl тιтle.

He played in one game, tallying two solo tackles.

Thompson’s 2024 season began with a scare when he suffered cardiac arrest in June during a team meeting. He did not appear in a game.
