Dolphins looking to trade Jalen Ramsey as offseason makeover continues

The Dolphins may look plenty different in 2025.

Miami and star cornerback Jalen Ramsey are mutually exploring trade options and it “wouldn’t be a surprise” if he played for another franchise next season, according to NFL Network.

Ramsey signed a three-year extension through the 2028 season last September and is set to earn $25.1 million guaranteed this upcoming season, per the report.

The Dolphins have been a star-heavy team under head coach Mike McDaniel and it appears the roster is now in a transition stage since Ramsey could be the fourth notable player to exit this offseason.

Miami already lost safety Jevon Holland to the Giants, veteran defensive lineman Calais Campbell to the Cardinals and standout offensive tackle Terron Armstead retired.

Should Ramsey get dealt, he would be the third 2024 team captain to exit.

Ramsey, 30, has long been considered one of the game’s best cornerbacks, having been named First-Team All-Pro three times and making seven Pro Bowls.

This past season, however, ended his Pro Bowl streak that dated to his second season. He appeared in all 17 games and tallied two interceptions in his second season with the Dolphins.

A possible trade signals Miami could be looking to get younger and cheaper as the franchise looks for its first playoff victory since 2000.

Miami took a step back this past season by going 8-9 to end a streak of four straight campaigns with a winning record, and questions linger about this group’s ceiling.

The Dolphins figure to have a strong offense — if healthy — with Tua Tagovailoa, Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waaddle and De’Von Achane, but the defense could be down three starters if Ramsey departs.

Miami holds the 13th pick in the upcoming draft and holds 10 selections.

Ramsey began his career with the Jaguars before being traded to the Rams in 2019 and then being sent to the Dolphins prior to the 2023 season.
