New Jets defensive back Andre Cisco chirps Shedeur Sanders for ‘patting’ tell at pro day

As the 2025 NFL Draft nears, H๏τ takes and opinions are in full force, especially around quarterbacks.

And Andre Cisco had his own advice for Shedeur Sanders.

On Friday, the new Jets safety reposted a video on X of Sanders throwing at his Colorado pro day, saying the top prospect needs to “stop patting” the ball before releasing it.

“We breakin onnat earlyyyy,” Cisco, who has eight career interceptions, added.

While Sanders’ ultimate landing spot in the draft remains a mystery for now, there doesn’t seem to be concern about the patting of the ball from talent evaluators, who were watching Colorado’s showcase.

Fox Sports reported that one top NFL executive noted Sanders was throwing with “more power” and “more velocity” than expected.

“I just think he throws a really catchable ball. Accuracy is one thing, but catchability is another. Shedeur’s got both. And watching him live today, there was more power — more velocity — than I expected,” the exec told the outlet. “He’s definitely a pocket guy, but athletic enough to buy time and make plays. His offensive line was always an issue in college, but turnovers never were.”

Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton weighed in on his possible future teammate following Cisco’s comments.

“I promise he can pat the ball and be just fine if DB’s was so good at breaking on ball pats they’d all have 8+ picks a year. Same guys that fall for a 2 man dagger concept and give up the dig on 3rd&long every season all season long talkin bout a ball pat what a joke,” the wideout wrote on Saturday with three crying laughing emojis on X.

While it’s not clear if Slayton’s comments are any indication the Giants will pick Sanders, Big Blue sent a huge contingent to Colorado to watch the quarterback and wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter on Friday.

Sanders finished the showcase throwing 58-for-63 with three of his five incompletions from clear drops.
