LeSean McCoy has warning for Dak Prescott after Joe Milton trade

The Cowboys’ trade acquisition of Joe Milton III was simply a depth move for a backup quarterback to operate behind Dak Prescott — or was it?

Former NFL star running back LeSean McCoy isn’t so sure that Prescott’s job will be totally safe.

“Listen, if Dak Prescott has a postseason like he’s always had going into that next year … Dak, find a realtor,” McCoy said Thursday on FS1’s “The Facility.”

“Because Joe Milton got talent — he can play.”

Dallas just signed Prescott to a four-year, $240 million extension before last season, making him relatively untradable with a deal of that size on the books until 2028.

But McCoy seems to suggest that this would not stop the Cowboys from looking to move on from Prescott and thrust Milton, whom they sent a fifth-pick to the Patriots for, into action.

“I’ll say this, y’all laughing on that, but I’ve seen other quarterbacks get paid a lot of money, and they move on from them,” McCoy said. “We’ve seen it happen.”

While Prescott has been a staple in Dallas since 2016 when he burst onto the scene with 23 touchdowns to just four interceptions and helped lead the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, his playoff woes have tainted an otherwise stellar tenure.

Prescott has led Dallas to just two playoff wins in seven games and has never advanced past the divisional round. His career quarterback rating of 98.2 drops to 91.8 in the postseason.

Milton is unproven, as he appeared in just one game in his rookie year this past season. But he impressed with 241 yards and two total touchdowns, though mostly against the Bills backups as Buffalo readied for the postseason.

Milton was chosen in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by New England after spending three collegiate seasons with Michigan and three with Tennessee.

He’s well known for the cannon he has for an arm and his loads of untapped potential.

But at the moment, it’s just that: untapped potential.

Even still, McCoy insists that Milton may be breathing down Prescott’s neck for the starting job in the future.
