Giants sending mᴀssive contingent to see Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders at Colorado’s pro day

The Giants are going to need a bigger plane.

An unprecedented total of 14 members of the front office and coaching staff are headed to Colorado’s pro day Friday, according to The Post’s Paul Schwartz, for the chance to watch quarterback Shedeur Sanders throw scripted pᴀsses and receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter work out at both positions.

General manager Joe Schoen, ᴀssistant general manager Brandon Brown, director of player personnel Tim McDonnell, senior player personnel executive Chris Mara, ᴀssistant director of player personnel Dennis Hickey, special ᴀssistant to the general manager Jessie Armstead and area scout Hannah Burnett will be joined by head coach Brian Daboll, defensive coordinator Shane Bowen, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, quarterbacks coach Shea Tierney, defensive backs coach Marquand Manuel, receivers coach Mike Groh, and ᴀssistant quarterbacks coach Chad Hall.

The first thing that jumps out is Daboll’s reversal after saying earlier this week that he would not attend pro days because he prefers private workouts with quarterbacks.

Daboll, however, will not be having a private workout with Sanders while out in Colorado this weekend.

The second noticeable thing is that the Giants still are trying to determine whether the Heisman Trophy-winning Hunter is better suited to play receiver with some defensive packages mixed in or cornerback with some offensive packages mixed in.

The consensus around the NFL is that it is easier for a defense-first player to be part of situational offense than vice versa.

Sanders and Hunter are longtime friends with a rare connection, and it is not out of the question that the Giants could land both Colorado stars.

If the тιтans draft quarterback Cam Ward and the Browns draft edge rusher Abdul Carter, then Hunter likely will be the best available player at No. 3.

Then, if Sanders slips past the Raiders, Jets and Saints within the top 10 picks, it becomes reasonable that the Giants could package pick No. 34 with other ᴀssets to trade up for the sliding Sanders and double up on first-rounders.

The Giants’ scouting contingent did not leave East Rutherford until Friday morning so that they could be part of Thursday’s internal draft meetings, Schwartz reported.

It is not unusual for prospects to meet individually with teams after their Pro Day ᴀssignments.
