Kansas City Chiefs make shock NFL request that could badly impact Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

The Kansas City Chiefs have requested to play on Christmas Day every year, according to reports.

Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Co. have played on December 25 for each of the past seasons.

Now, according to The Athletic, the Chiefs have told the NFL they want the holiday game to become a staple part of their regular season.

The Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys currently enjoy a similar tradition, playing on Thanksgiving every year.

It would disrupt the plans of Andy Reid’s players, however. The likes of Mahomes have young families, while Kelce typically enjoys spending the holiday period with his girlfriend Taylor Swift.

The pop star was in the stands – wearing a customized Kelce Santa hat – for the Chiefs’ Christmas Day loss to the Raiders in 2023.

Last year, meanwhile, Kelce helped Kansas City beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on December 25 – just days before the couple enjoyed a date night in New York City.

There are slated to be three games on Christmas Day as part of the 2025 regular season, according to reports.

Two of those games will be streamed on Netflix, with the third being broadcast on Amazon Prime. The Chiefs are again expected to be among the teams on the slate.

Back in 2023, Kansas City was beaten 20-14 at Arrowhead by the Raiders in a loss that threatened to derail their bid for back-to-back Super Bowl crowns.

Last year, meanwhile, the Chiefs beat the Steelers 29-10 in front of a TV audience that reportedly exceeded 24million.
