The Memphis Grizzlies and Houston Rockets have agreed to trade guard Victor Oladipo and three second-round picks for center Steven Adams, according to multiple reports.

Memphis will gain more salary flexibility and draft capital for the 2024 offseason when they will attempt to add talent around a core of Ja Morant, Jaren Jackson Jr., and Desmond Bane.

The Grizzlies will acquire two-2024 2024 second-round picks and a 2025 second-round specifically.

Adams is currently out for the season after undergoing right knee surgery several months ago.

The 30-year-old center is expected to recover from his operation in time for the 2023-2024 season and the Rockets believe he will add the sort of toughness and veteran leadership that head coach Ime Udoka wishes to build the team around.

Adams is also expected to have an impactful albeit somewhat limited role to compliment Rockets young and promising center Alperen Sengun.

Last season Adams averaged 8.6 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 2.3 ᴀssists through 42 starts in Memphis.

Oladipo has spent last season with the Miami Heat and was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder during the offseason.

He was then traded to the Rockets in October just before the start of regular season but did not take the court for Houston all year.

Last year with Miami Oladipo averaged 10.7 points and 3.5 ᴀssists per game while coming off Miami’s bench.
