NFL analyst rips Steelers after Russell Wilson departure: ‘No clue’

There’s no positive way to frame the chaos the Steelers have thrust themselves into at quarterback.

NFL analyst Warren Sharp blasted Pittsburgh brᴀss on Tuesday for failing to provide stability at the position over the last several years.

“Show me a team that has no clue what it’s doing at the most important position in football,” Sharp posted on X before listing each quarterback on the Steelers’ roster in 2023, 2024 and the current state of affairs for 2025.

“100% QB room turnover each year.”

Sharp’s tweet came after further turnover was ensured this offseason with Russell Wilson, who quarterbacked the Steelers to the playoffs last season, signing a one-year deal with the Giants.

The Steelers had previously said their “preference” was to sign Wilson or Justin Fields to a multi-year contract this offseason, but Fields landed with the Jets on the first day of free agency.

The Steelers are currently playing the Aaron Rodgers waiting game, with the former Jets quarterback taking his time to mull his options for next season.

Now, to be fair, Mason Rudolph was on the Steelers’ 2023 roster and played in four games. He eventually became the тιтans’ starter last season, replacing the struggling Will Levis, and has since returned to coach Mike Tomlin for the 2025 season.

He will likely have to learn a new offense, though, as offensive coordinator Matt Canada was fired after the 2023 season and ex-Falcons coach Arthur Smith replaced him.

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will actually sign in Pittsburgh, as the 41-year-old could opt to retire or hold out to see if another team eventually changes its mind about adding him.

Rodgers visited with the Steelers last week but left without a deal in place as rumors swirl he prefers to join the Vikings, although the interest does not appear mutual for now.

Pittsburgh went 10-7 last year and has not had a losing season since 2003, having made the playoffs in four of the last five seasons as they look to get over the hump and win a playoff game for the first time since 2016.
