Shock report claims the Browns and Cowboys are negotiating a trade for Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott could be linking up with Myles Garrett and Co. in Cleveland. That’s according to a shock report, anyway.

Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys agreed a blockbuster $240million, four-year deal just before the start of the 2024 season but the quarterback could reportedly already be on the move.

The Browns are said to be looking to land a trade to bring the signal caller to Cleveland, according to a bombshell report from Bruce Drennan.

The Cleveland-based American sportscaster claimed he’d received a tip from a ‘pretty darn good source within the Browns organization’ that the two teams were allegedly in talks over the quarterback.

‘I heard that the part of the reason Myles Garrett was so willing to sign this contract extension, the Browns are negotiating as we speak with the Dallas Cowboys for a trade for Dak Prescott,’ Drennan claimed on his BIGPLAY show Wednesday.

‘Now, Prescott is recovering from a hamstring injury as we speak and he may not be ready for the start of training camp but this comes from a couple of different sources.’

Drennan added that Cleveland would send cornerback Greg Newsome II and draft compensation to Dallas in exchange for Prescott.

Garrett did perform a dramatic U-turn over his future in Ohio earlier this month when he inked a historic extension with the Browns, despite his previous repeated refusals.

The star pᴀss rusher lodged a trade demand with the team and even threatened to boycott playing games if he wasn’t shipped off.

But in a stunning turn of events, as confirmed by the team , the Browns and Garrett have agreed upon a contract extension that makes him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the history of the NFL.

Garrett is set to earn an astounding $204million over the course of his four-year deal, with nearly $123million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $40m a year.

The hefty payday was no doubt a major motivation in Garrett’s decision to stay in Cleveland. However, whether the possibility of playing on the same team as Prescott also played a role, as Drennan claims, remains to be seen.

The Browns could struggle to also take on Prescott’s contract with the signal caller set to earn a base salary of $47 million in 2025.

Prescott played just eight games for the 7-10 Cowboys in 2024 before sustaining a season-ending hamstring injury.

Cooper Rush and Trey Lance both stepped in for an injured Prescott in 2024 without much success. The Cowboys acquired Lance a year earlier for a fourth-round pick hoping he could develop behind Prescott, but the former first-round pick completed only 25 of 41 pᴀsses in limited action last season.
