Darius Slayton has perfect message for Russell Wilson’s Giants signing

Darius Slayton had an apt message for the Giants and their fans over their newest quarterback acquisition.

And with Russell Wilson en route to New York, it really was the only thing that needed to be said.

“Giants country…..Lets Ride,” Slayton wrote on X following the news that Wilson was signing a one-year contract with Big Blue on Tuesday night.

For the uninitiated, the words “Broncos country, let’s ride,” became a ubiquitous meme in the summer of 2022 after Wilson, then with Denver, uttered the phrase over and over again in a promotional video.

After that clip went viral, the words became ever-linked to his name.

Slayton, who signed his own three-year, $36 million deal with the Giants this offseason, gets a veteran quarterback in Wilson who brings in 13 years of NFL experience and 10 Pro Bowls.

Wilson, after two up-and-down seasons in Denver, joined the Steelers in 2024.

Injured for the first six weeks, Wilson played Weeks 7-17, throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions with a 51.3 QBR, his best number since he was traded from Seattle to Denver in 2022. Pittsburgh went 6-5 in those games.

The Giants now have a full quarterback room with the additions of Wilson and Jameis Winston and the re-signing of Tommy DeVito.

New York struggled mightily to get any QB production last year and finished with the fifth-worst pᴀssing offense (189.9 yards per game) and the fewest pᴀssing touchdowns (15) in the NFL.
