Pat McAfee changing tune on NFL draft show after ‘lack of respect’

Pat McAfee has begun walking back his comments about the NFL draft and is “thinking about” hosting his draft show in Green Bay after initially protesting attending the event because of the league’s “lack of respect.”

“The more and more I think about it, you know, maybe we do go shake [the NFL’s] hands,” McAfee said Monday on “The Pat McAfee Show” alongside Ian Rapoport.

McAfee was in Scotland to call WWE’s “Monday Night Raw”, but made an appearance on his тιтular show while Rapoport hosted it for the day.

“It’s going to be an electric factory over there [in Green Bay]. That place is amazing. I can’t wait to see,” McAfee raved. “It’s awesome what the NFL has done with the draft. So maybe we, you know, go shake their hands and make it happen.”

McAfee’s comments come after he was livid with the NFL at the combine because of what he called a “lack of respect” for him and his ESPN show.

The former Colts punter was upset with the location of his show’s set at the NFL Scouting Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

“Someone at that middle level who has power wanted to flex the fact that they have power,” McAfee said. “Created some problems, obviously.”

“With that being said, I don’t want to play their games,” McAfee added regarding him potentially attending the draft.

McAfee has hosted his “Draft Spectacular” for the last five years, most recently taking the show in 2024 to Detroit where the set was placed at the Detroit Ice Rink with a nice view of the draft’s stage in the background.

Comparing that to his qualms with the NFL’s placement of his show at the combine, this led him to planning on doing his draft show off-site this season.

Despite all of the drama, McAfee may end up on-site in Green Bay for the draft after all — but he’s not confirming it.

“This is me potentially thinking about it,” he said.
