Shocking moment Anthony Edwards fires ball at fans in frustration after being ejected against the Lakers

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards lost his cool during Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The guard was ejected in the third quarter of the matchup against LeBron James, Luka Doncic and co. via a double technical foul with the Lakers going on to seal a dominant 111-102 win.

However, Edwards shockingly escalated the situation when, instead of peacefully exiting the court, he lingered before launching the ball into the crowd.

The fans in the Crypto.com Arena crowd, which included stars such as Timothee Chalamet and Ben Affleck, appeared to successfully dodge Edwards’ missile but he could now be facing an increased fine from the league.

Edwards’ two technical fouls that led to his ejection gave him 16 for the entire year, triggering an automatic one-game suspension for Edwards.

Now, his conduct after being ejected against Los Angeles may have his ban be longer than Friday night’s road game against the Utah Jazz.

It’s been less than a week since Edwards last caused controversy in the NBA as he appeared to get into a heated argument with a Houston Rockets’ fan last Friday.

Edwards was seen trying to walk off the court at the Toyota Center when he heard something from the crowd, turned around and responded.

The incident got heated quick as Edwards started shouting at someone off-camera, with multiple people stepping in to intervene.

ESPN’s coverage of the game cut away from the argument to show a highlight before it switched back to the incident. By the time the camera cut back, Edwards was walking away from the situation upset.

Edwards has already been fined $285K by the league this season for five different incidents, although he has not added to that total since mid-January.

The Team USA star also came under fire for comments he made in a recent Netflix documentary.

Netflix’s release of docuseries ‘Court of Gold’ followed Edwards and Team USA basketball’s journey to gold in the Paris Olympics. His interaction with former US President Barack Obama has gone viral.

In a gathering with the team, the 44th US president chatted with 76ers center Joel Embiid about Edwards.

‘What do you think of this young guy?’ Obama asked Embiid about the 23-year-old. ‘He can hoop a little bit, huh?’

Edwards, who was selected for the team behind an exceptional playoff run, overheard the conversation and chimed in.

‘Man, y’all better stand down. I’m the truth,’ Edwards confidently claimed.

Thrown by the response, Obama followed up by asking, ‘You said you’re the truth, yeah?’

‘These boys know,’ Edwards replied with the same confidence. In response, Obama checked with the older players, starting with LeBron James.

After Edwards explained the context behind the question, James backed him, echoing, ‘This man [is] the truth.’
