NBA star Stephen Curry joins Unrivaled and former school Davidson in two shock career moves

NBA star Stephen Curry has become a basketball investor and executive in the space of a couple of days.

In the first of two shock career moves, it emerged on Monday that the 36-year has joined his former college as ᴀssistant general manager.

And then, on Tuesday, it was announced that the guard had invested in new women’s basketball league Unrivaled.

Curry is one of the greatest players of his generation, having helped the Warriors win four NBA Championships.

But now his influence is spreading beyond the Golden State. As reported by ESPN, he took his first steps towards the front office by accepting a role with the Davison Wildcats.

It means the point guard is the first active player in US major professional sports to take a job with an NCAA program.

Curry will work as ᴀssistant general manager for the basketball programs at Davidson College, where he played between 2006 and 2009.

It is said the 36-year-old’s role will be to offer guidance to both male and female players, based on his experience in the college and professional game.

Curry will also reportedly kickstart an eight-figure fund for the men’s and women’s programs at Davidson, as part of a small group that also includes his wife Ayesha.

The 36-year-old, who is in his 16th season with the Warriors, left the school after his junior year and was selected seventh overall in the 2009 draft.

‘My journey from when I got to Davidson in 2006 to now demonstrated that I had the opportunity to play basketball at the highest level, got a great education, an amazing network through the Davidson alumni and continue to wave the Davidson flag,’ he said in a statement, via ESPN.

‘I want very talented, high character student athletes to have that same experience.’
