Trump says Chiefs’ getting White House visit following Eagles after missing ‘their turn because of COVID’

The Eagles won’t be the only NFL team invited to the White House in 2025.

Despite a loss in Super Bowl LIX in February, President Donald Trump said during an interview with OutKick that the Chiefs would be coming to Washington D.C. to celebrate their Super Bowl 2020 victory, which the organization never got a chance to celebrate with POTUS.

“I look forward to having the Eagles, and one other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that because they missed their turn because of COVID,” Trump said during an interview on Air Force One with the outlet.

The White House has not publically commented on Trump’s remarks nor have the Chiefs.

It’s unclear if an official invite has been extended.

The Chiefs never had the chance to celebrate their 2020 at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. due to the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down the globe.

Trump had been favoring the Chiefs going into this year’s Super Bowl and was on hand for part of the big game, becoming the first sitting U.S. President to attend a Super Bowl.

He had written a message of congratulations after the Chiefs had won the AFC championship this year.

“What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers,” Trump posted on social media.

The Eagles are scheduled to visit the White House on April 28 after plenty of attention was being paid to whether they would make the traditional trip to D.C. that championship-winning teams make.

In 2018, after winning the Super Bowl, the Eagles had been disinvited by the President days before they were supposed to visit.

Trump insisted in the OutKick interview that the Eagles’ first Super Bowl-winning team wanted to come despite certain players expressing they wouldn’t go.

“Well, actually, (the Eagles) did want to come,” Trump said. “A lot of people wanted to come, including the coach [Doug Pederson] — terrific guy, by the way — but the coach wanted to come. The general manager [Howie Roseman] wanted to come. The owner [Jeffrey Lurie] wanted to come. A lot of people wanted to come. Some of the players wanted to come. And I just said, Just forget it, right?”
