BREAKING NEWSBrowns linked to Carson Wentz after adding Kenny Pickett and meeting Russell Wilson

The Cleveland Browns and former Kansas City Chiefs backup quarterback Carson Wentz have mutual interest and the former starter could find himself under center for coach Kevin Stefanski’s team, according to Cleveland.com.

The 32-year-old Wentz is seen as a ‘bridge’ quarterback until a long-term answer can be found under center, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.

The Browns may be without controversial starter Deshaun Watson for the 2025 season after he ruptured his Achilles tendon both in October and again while rehabbing in January.

Amid talk of a new stadium on Lake Erie, Cleveland has reworked Watson’s contract to give the team more cap room to address any needs, including the quarterback position, but it’s unclear where they’ll turn.

The team has acquired former Philadelphia Eagles backup and Pittsburgh Steelers starter Kenny Pickett from the reigning Super Bowl champions, but it’s far from certain he’ll be the starter in Cleveland next year.

The Browns have also met with former Steelers starter and Super Bowl winner Russell Wilson, who has also been linked to the New York Giants.

Cleveland can also address the all-important quarterback position with the second pick of next month’s NFL Draft, but could cost themselves a chance at elite talents like Colorado cornerback-receiver Travis Hunter or Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter.

The Tennessee тιтans are widely believed to be taking a quarterback with the first-overall pick. It’s unclear if that will be Miami’s Cam Ward or Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders.

Wentz was fine in three appearances for the Chiefs in 2024, completing 12 of 19 pᴀsses for 118 yards.

The second pick of the 2016 NFL Draft was a second-team All-Pro in 2017, but got injured and was sidelined for the Eagles’ Super Bowl LII win over the New England Patriots.

He’s struggled to get back on track since that knee injury and has since had unremarkable stints with the Indianapolis Colts, Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams and Chiefs.
