The Stronghold (2017) (original тιтle Сторожова застава) is a Ukrainian fantasy adventure film set in both the present day and the medieval past. The story follows a young boy named Vitko, who finds himself transported back in time after a solar eclipse activates a mysterious ancient stone he encounters. He arrives in the 11th century, in the midst of an epic battle between Kievan Rus’ warriors and an army of Polovtsian invaders.
Vitko must adapt to this dangerous era and join forces with legendary heroes, including Ilya Muromets, Dobrynya Nikitich, and Alyosha Popovich, to defend a fortress known as “The Stronghold.” As he learns to fight and faces various threats, Vitko discovers courage, friendship, and the importance of standing up for his people. Combining Ukrainian folklore with epic battles and magical elements, The Stronghold offers a story of bravery and adventure while celebrating Slavic mythology and historical heroes.
