Steelers sign Mason Rudolph as they wait on Aaron Rodgers’ decision

The Steelers are reuniting with a familiar quarterback as the wait for Aaron Rodgers’ free-agency decision drags on.

Pittsburgh brought back veteran Mason Rudolph on a two-year, $8 million deal on Thursday, according to multiple reports.

It comes as the Steelers find themselves in quarterback purgatory with Rodgers seemingly deciding if he will suit up for them or the Giants next season.

Rudolph, 29, spent the first six seasons of his career with the Steelers after they selected him in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.

He signed with the тιтans last offseason and ultimately took over the starting role from a struggling Will Levis.

Rudolph played in eight games for Tennessee — including two of their victories — and completed 146 of 228 pᴀsses for 1,530 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions.

It was his most significant amount of playing time since taking over for an injured Ben Roethlisberger in 2019.

In the seasons in between, Rudolph served as a backup for Roethlisberger, Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett.

And it’s the role he will likely play this season, once the Steelers have figured out who their starting quarterback will be.

A decision from Rodgers, who was dumped by the Jets after two seasons, is expected soon and it has been reported that the Steelers have made an offer to the 41-year-old.

Russell Wilson is seemingly the Plan B for both the Giants and the Steelers.

Wilson, who was dealing with a calf injury, took over as the starter for the Steelers last season after Justin Fields started the first six games.

He helped lead Pittsburgh to the playoffs, but the season ended on a five-game losing streak — including a 28-14 loss to the Ravens in the AFC wild-card game.

Wilson is visiting with the Browns and Giants this week.
