Sometimes the best seasons for fans are ones that begin with low expectations.

That is my message of hope for Jets fans as the 2025 season approaches. I have heard from many Jets fans who are down on the team over the release of Aaron Rodgers, the endless losing and the fact that they have not had a home playoff game in their new stadium … and it’s not all that new anymore.

But, here’s a thought that has stuck with me this winter — could the 2025 Jets be the 2024 Mets?

I know many Jets fans are also Mets fans. Even though the two teams have not shared a stadium since 1983, there still are connections there, and the Jets feel much closer to the Mets than the Yankees and vice versa with the Mets and Giants. While Yankees and Giants fans have enjoyed championships this century, Mets and Jets fans still are clinging to championships from long ago.
