BREAKING NEWSJames Bradberry release from Eagles announced less than 24 hours after Darius Slay’s shock exit

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to release another member of their Super Bowl-winning squad.

The Eagles, who claimed a dominant victory over the Kansas City Chiefs last month, are releasing cornerback James Bradberry, according to multiple reports.

Bradberry, 31, who arrived in Philadelphia ahead of the 2022 season, will be designated as a post-June 1 release.

The defensive back was set to enter the final year of the three-year extension he signed in 2022 and was set to count more than $5.1 million against the 2025 cap.

By releasing Bradberry, the Eagles’ front office will reportedly save $2.1 million on the cap, taking on $3 million in ᴅᴇᴀᴅ cap.

Bradberry didn’t play a single game this season after being placed on injured reserve with an Achilles injury. He is still set to receive a Super Bowl ring.

He recently revealed that he had recovered from the lower leg injury and was eyeing a return in time for the team’s OTAs.

Bradberry had moved to safety the season prior after the Eagles had drafted Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean with their first two picks. However, he declared that he wanted to switch back to cornerback when he returns in 2025.

However, where he will play – both position and team – this coming season remains to be seen. His agent will be allowed to negotiate before his release is official.

Bradberry was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2020 and was voted second-team All Pro in 2022.

The move comes one day after the reigning Super Bowl champions cut another cornerback, Darius Slay.

Unlike Bradberry, Slay, 34, started every game in the postseason and ultimately played a pivotal role in helping Philadelphia beat the Chiefs 40-22.

Slay will be designated as a post-June 1 release, saving the Eagles $4.3million in cap space.

Slay signed a three-year, $42million deal with the Eagles in 2023, with $23million guaranteed at signing.

Since being initially traded to the team from the Lions in 2020, Slay has been a mainstay for the Philly defense, earning three Pro Bowl selections.

Offensive lineman Mekhi Becton will also be an unrestricted free agent after signing a one-year deal with the team.
