Darius Slay’s wife posts heartbreaking two-word response to Eagles’ decision to cut Super Bowl winner

The wife of soon-to-be-released NFL star Darius Slay, Jennifer Slay, posted a heartbreaking message on social media about the upcoming spilt between the Philadelphia Eagles and her husband.

The team announced on Monday its intention to release Slay with a post-June 1 designation, saving the team $4.3million in cap space.

Slay, who will turn 35 during the next NFL season, has been an Eagles’ cornerback since 2020, with his tenure most notably including a Super Bowl victory last month.

In recent weeks, Jennifer has been vocal about how much the city’s support of her husband and his team has meant to her. It’s safe to say she did not want to hear Monday’s news.

‘Real tears,’ Jennifer posted to X.

On her Instagram story, Jennifer re-posted a pH๏τo roll from the Eagles’ championship season with it captioned ‘Philly’ with a broken-heart emoji.

Before making the move to Philadelphia, Darius Slay started his career with the Detroit Lions, who could be in the mix to reunite with the defensive star.

There will always be a possibility Slay can re-sign with the Eagles for less money. However, that would need to be a significant downgrade beyond what other teams would be willing to pay him.

Slay knew the possibility existed of him moving on from the Eagles recently, as NFL teams trying to maximize their offseason expenses.

‘I might re-sign back, hopefully,’ Slay said on Amon-Ra St. Brown’s podcast last month. ‘If I ain’t, I gotta see what we doing because I do want to play one more year, for sure.’

Slay was open to a return to the Lions, although he and St. Brown never overlapped in the Music City.

‘Oh, I love Detroit,’ he said. ‘That’s my second home. I do a lot for the city still, to this day. If it is, it is. If it ain’t, it ain’t. For sure, the two spots I would love to always be at are Philly or Detroit. The main two, the main ones I’d love to be at.’

Jennifer is a former college basketball player at Southwestern Oklahoma State, and met her now-husband in 2015. The couple also have two children together.
