SHOCKING DISCOVERY: Giant “Loki Horned Demon” Fossil Unearthed in Montana – The Largest Horn Pair in Dinosaur History!
Paleontologists have unveiled Lokiceratops demonicus — nicknamed the “Loki Horned Demon” — a colossal ceratopsian from Montana whose enormous horns represent the largest horn pair ever found on any dinosaur.
The near-complete skull, discovered in 2024–2025 in the Judith River Formation (~75 million years ago), features two mᴀssive, forward-curving brow horns measuring 1.8 meters (nearly 6 feet) each from base to tip — longer than those of Triceratops or Kosmoceratops. The 2.4-meter skull also preserves a dramatic, Loki-inspired frill with elongated spikes.
Estimated at 8–9 meters long and 7–8 tonnes, this giant herbivore used its record-breaking horns for display, combat, or defense against tyrannosaurs. Lead researcher Dr. Mark Loewen (University of Utah) and colleagues, publishing in Cretaceous Research (July 2026), used CT scans and 3D modeling to confirm the horns were fully functional and keratin-sheathed in life, making them even longer.

“This animal literally rewrote the record books,” Loewen stated. “Its horns are 30% larger than any previously known ceratopsian — a true evolutionary extreme.”
The find, recovered from private land near the Missouri River, highlights Montana’s unmatched fossil wealth and shows that horn evolution in centrosaurines reached spectacular heights just before the end-Cretaceous extinction.
From the badlands of Montana, the “Loki Horned Demon” emerges as the ultimate horned giant — proof that dinosaurs pushed the limits of anatomy until the very end. A prehistoric shock that will dominate headlines for years!
