Kansas City Chiefs re-sign linebacker Blake Lynch as they begin rebuild after Super Bowl humiliation

The Kansas City Chiefs have re-signed linebacker Blake Lynch as Andy Reid and Brett Veach adjust their roster after the Super Bowl humiliation.

The Chiefs are making moves already as they bid to return to the summit of the NFL, weeks after losing 40-22 to the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

They have now welcomed back Lynch, who previously joined the franchise’s practice squad in December.

He played in the final game of the regular season against the Denver Broncos, which saw Reid rest a number of key players with the AFC’s No. 1 seed already secured.

However, Lynch was released just before the Chiefs’ first playoff game against the Houston Texans.

Lynch, 28, managed six tackles and a tackle for loss in that game against the Broncos.

He also played for the Los Angeles Chargers, picking up four tackles in seven games in 2023.

Lynch also represented the Minnesota Vikings in 20 games earlier in his career.

He started seven, racking up 47 tackles, two sacks, an interception, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

The Chiefs have also decided to franchise tag Trey Smith and it appears Travis Kelce is going to return next season amid talk of him retiring.
