Lane Johnson’s telling reaction as team trying to kill Eagles’ tush push revealed

The Philadelphia Eagles can just laugh at defenses who try to stop the tush push, and now they’re laughing at those who want the play banned.

It was reported by The Athletic on Monday that the Green Bay Packers put forward a proposal for the NFL to ban the tush push.

Eagles offensive tackle Lane Johnson, who has taken part in his fair share of “Brotherly Shoves,” scoffed at the idea by simply posting a crying-of-laughter emoji on X in response to a report about the proposal.

The 34-year-old is a two-time Super Bowl champion and two-time First-Team All-Pro in his 12-year career in Philadelphia. He’s enjoyed a lot of success in his career and with the tush push throughout the Jalen Hurts era, that success has been elevated even more.

Many teams have tried to replicate Philadelphia’s signature play, but none have had the same success, which is why Johnson is seemingly scoffing at an NFC rival trying to eliminate the play.

This isn’t the first time that some have wanted the play banned, as the same talks were floating around this time last year, and it was even alleged that Commissioner Roger Goodell wanted to forbid the play.

But ultimately, nothing came of it, with the team’s not even voting on the matter last offseason.

The tush push perhaps got even more unstoppable this past year as the Eagles added running back Saquon Barkley to the mix of those shoving Hurts forward in short-yardage situations.

Philadelphia utilized the play to perfection numerous times en route to a dominant Super Bowl 2025 win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

As for the Packers, they fell in the first round of the playoffs.

Against who? None other than the Philadelphia Eagles.

Johnson clearly finds that pretty ironic.
