Aaron Rodgers' reaction to Jets exit revealed after quarterback 'urged New York to keep him'

Aaron Rodgers reportedly pushed the Jets to keep him and resembled ‘a man walking to the gallows’ after learning his fate.

The 41-year-old’s exit from New York was confirmed earlier this week, after new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey decided to move in a different direction.

Rodgers is said to want to keep playing and on Sunday reports claimed that the quarterback ‘aggressively’ urged the Jets to stick with him for at least another season.

According to the New York Post, Rodgers had several conversation with the team last week and repeatedly asked to stay amid fears his career could fizzle out.

Once his future was sealed, however, the 41-year-old is said to have ‘slipped into the darkness for a few days’.

It’s claimed that the Jets had already decided the quarterback’s fate by the time he had a first face-to-face meeting with Mougey and Glenn.

Rodgers spent two years with the Jets. His first season lasted just four snaps after he tore his Achilles.

Last year, meanwhile, the Jets struggled to 5-12 and extended their record playoff drought to 14 years.

The marriage was officially ended on Thursday, with the team announcing its intention to ‘move in a different direction.’

But, according to NFL Network, Rodgers is not ready to stop playing just yet. While he won’t be released until June 1, the quarterback can begin talking to other teams right away.

The Athletic reported, meanwhile, that the Jets are likely move on from two offensive stars: wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard.
