Deion Sanders’ son Shilo not invited to Combine with NFL future in question

Colorado defensive back Shilo Sanders has missed the cut for the NFL Scouting Combine.

Sanders, the son of Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, has a more questionable NFL outlook than that of brother and potential top-10 pick Shedeur.

Shilo recently appeared in the East-West Shrine Bowl in front of NFL scouts, where he received criticism across social media and from many reporters for his play.

But he insists he had a solid outing.

“It wasn’t true,” Sanders said of the negative reports, per Sports Illustrated. “I feel like they’re just going to hate on anything. I feel like I had a solid week at practice.”

He recorded six total tackles and a pᴀss deflection for the West team in its 25-0 loss in the Shrine Bowl, but seemed to struggle in some of the practice sessions.

“Yeah, in one-on-ones, I did pretty shaky, but I can cover,” Sanders said. “Obviously, if you watch [the Shrine Bowl], you’ll see that.”

Sanders tallied 134 total tackles, five pᴀss deflections and an interception in his two seasons at Colorado while being coached by his father.

Prior to joining the Buffaloes, he spent two seasons at South Carolina and two at Jackson State.

He played in 13 games and recorded 32 tackles for the Gamecocks. For the Tigers, Sanders played in 20 games and racked up five interceptions, 12 pᴀss breakups, two forced fumbles and 59 total tackles.

Sanders currently projects to go in the late rounds of the NFL Draft or undrafted.

Without an invite to the combine, there won’t be as much of a chance to improve his stock before the draft begins April 24.

Tyreek Hill, Antonio Gates, Victor Cruz and Julian Edelman are a few players who made a name for themselves in the NFL despite not appearing in the combine.

None of them had a name that carried as much weight as Sanders’.

“Don’t believe everything you read,” Sanders said. “I can play football. If you say I can’t play football, just watch film.”
