Jaguars quickly respond to Trevor Lawrence trade rumor

Everyone is looking to play quarterback roulette in the offseason, but take the Jaguars off that list.

After reports surfaced that the Steelers approached the Jaguars in an attempt to trade for Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville is telling all interested teams to go fish.

Pittsburgh went into last season with Justin Fields and Russell Wilson at quarterback, but neither are under contract for 2025.

A Jaguars source told ESPN there was “no chance” that Lawrence would be moved and called the idea of trading the former Clemson Heisman Trophy winner “ridiculous.”

Lawrence is a mᴀssive fan-favorite in Jacksonville, with his alma mater a short hour-long flight away, and a trade would likely upset an already frustrated fan base.

The Jaguars had a 9-8 record in both 2022 and 2023 before falling into a 4-13 abyss in 2024 under coach Doug Pederson, who was fired at the conclusion of the season.

Jacksonville then had an embarrᴀssing coach hiring cycle, as seemingly no top head coaching candidates wanted to report to general manager Trent Baalke.

Liam Coen then had a bizarre back-and-forth, as he initially chose to return to the Buccaneers as their offensive coordinator but then signed with the Jaguars after they fired Baalke.

It is unclear who the Steelers would have even called if they did want to express interest in trading for the Jaguars’ quarterback, as Jacksonville still has no general manager since firing Baalke.

The Jaguars are currently conducting a search for their next general manager, with Giants ᴀssistant Brandon Brown among the top candidates having already interviewed for the job.

Lawrence is entering the last year of his rookie contract but signed a five-year, $275 million extension that begins in 2026.
