Eagles’ Cooper DeJean opens up about Super Bowl message he got from Chiefs fan Caitlin Clark

Cooper DeJean and Caitlin Clark have an Iowa connection, but that doesn’t mean their NFL allegiances align.

DeJean, who played at Iowa during Clark’s time there, was one of the Eagles’ Super Bowl 2025 heroes with his second-quarter pick-six of Patrick Mahomes to help seal the win in New Orleans.

Clark, on the other hand, is a Chiefs fan who even sat with Taylor Swift in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium for the AFC divisional round.

But even though they were on opposite sides on Sunday, that doesn’t mean the former Hawkeyes couldn’t discuss the game.

Clark, DeJean revealed on “Up and Adams with Kay Adams” on Wednesday that the Indiana Fever star congratulated him on Philadelphia’s big day.

“She sent me a nice message congratulating me,” DeJean said on the program. “That was nice of her being a Chiefs fan and all.”

Sunday was a big day for DeJean, who not only scored his first touchdown with his first pro interception, but he was also celebrating his 22nd birthday.

It was a special moment for the defensive back and his parents, who were attending the game at Caesars Superdome.

“I’ve never seen my dad get that excited before about a play I made,” DeJean told Adams. “That was pretty emotional watching that back. I’m just glad they get to experience it with me.”

DeJean said after the game, he and his dad, Jason, had an emotional moment on the field where the two embraced.

The cornerback said his dad was nearly in tears, especially bringing up the fact that DeJean slid during the 2024 draft into the second round.

Now, he’s a Super Bowl champ just one year into his pro career.

“He almost started crying when I gave him a big huge,” DeJean recalled. “He actually brought up draft day. He said, ‘Just think about how disappointed you were on draft day, and now here you are.’”
