Former NFL quarterback Chase Daniel believes the Kansas City Chiefs dynasty will ‘never be over’ until quarterback Patrick Mahomes or head coach Andy Reid leave the organization.
Daniel, a former Chief himself during Reid’s early years at the team’s helm prior to Mahomes’ arrival, pointed to how a coach and quarterback are ‘cornerstone’ pieces of any team.
Reid will be 67 next month and is likely in his last tenure of his NFL coaching career. he has shown no signs of wanting to leave his post despite his age.
Mahomes is still in his prime at 29 and could be Kansas City’s starting quarterback for the next decade-plus if he wanted to be.
‘The dynasty will never be over until Mahomes or Reid retires,’ Daniel said. ‘The two cornerstone pieces of a dynastic run is Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. As long as they’re there, the Chiefs dynasty is not over by any stretch of the imagination.’
Daniels looked back to the last Chiefs’ Super Bowl loss, in 2021, and how the team retooled by signing plenty of offensive linemen after the championship defeat to the Tom Brady-led Buccaneers.

History appears to have repeated itself as the Eagles did not blitz the Chiefs on Sunday and made their offensive line look like wallpaper.
Daniel says that puts pressure again on team general manager Brett Veach to again build up the Chiefs roster to compete for a championship.

‘They will be back. It depends on how it looks though,’ Daniel added. ‘You can never count out the cornerstone pieces. But you’re only as good as your cornerstones if you have the people around them.’
Arguably the biggest decision that Veach will make this offseason involves Travis Kelce, whose football future has caused mᴀss speculation as his relationship with Taylor Swift progresses.
Should Kelce retire, the Kansas City offense would look completely different.
Since Mahomes has been the Chiefs starting quarterback, they’ve made seven straight AFC Championship games and found ways to rebuild with Reid at the helm.
After Sunday’s embarrᴀssing loss, the Chiefs will again have to pick up the pieces to keep their historic run going.
